Dear friends,

Greetings once again!

The past couple of months have been very eventful for Maithri Aquatech. I am very pleased and proud to share with you that Maithri Aquatech was awarded the prestigious GlobalLinker Telangana State Industry Award as the Best Start-up for this year. The Award was presented by Shri KT Rama Rao, Honourable Minister for Industries and Commerce, ITE&C, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Government of Telangana. We are greatly encouraged and spurred on with this wonderful validation of our work.

Another big recognition for the Company has been that the prestigious Masdar Institute under the guidance of “External Affairs Authority” of Abu Dhabi selected Maithri Aquatech for foundational research on AWG systems. This project would be under Prof Samuel Mao who has got 80 patents in his name.

Maithri Aquatech, along with its strategic partner Contec Global, through its brand ‘Beyond Water’, participated in the 5th Arab Water Forum held in September at Dubai. The Forum, considered the most important water-related event in the Arab region, provides a platform for water community leaders and key decision-makers to discuss water challenges that the Arab region is facing. Maithri Aquatech and Contec Global together showcased Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) technology as an innovative and plausible solution to tackle the region's water scarcity, a crucial life-threatening problem.

While water scarcity has more or less become a global phenomenon today, the Middle East and North African regions are seemingly the worst affected. Apart from the common factors of population increase and global warming, there are certain topographic and geo-political reasons that make this region more susceptible to water stress.

The respective governments and key players in this region are well aware of the water stress risk and are taking firm steps to counter it, but a lot more can be done. I believe that AWG could be a feasible option to help alleviate the crisis in the region.

Maithri Aquatech was also invited to speak at two other prestigious fora at the Dubai Expo in UAE - the G-STIC Summit organised by TERI on subject Harmonizing nature-based solutions for water security, and Panel Discussion on “Building Smart, Liveable and Sustainable Cities” organised by FICCI. I am happy that AWG is garnering both interest and recognition as a sustainable and futuristic technology to address the global problem of water stress.

We hope to keep sharing updates about the Water Industry and Maithri Aquatech with you through future issues of AquaBuzz. The current issue mainly discusses the water related challenges faced by the Middle East. We would welcome your thoughts, views and feedback on the same.

Yours sincerely,

M. Ramkrishna
