· In January 2019, Maithri Aquatech signed an MoU with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for mass production of the Company’s flagship product, MEGHDOOT AWG (Air -Water Generator) for Defence and Export markets.
MEGHDOOT 1000 LPD was inaugurated at the Aero India Show 2019 in February 2019, by India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, in the presence of BEL’s CMD, M. V. Gowtama.
Maithri Aquatech made its first defence installations for Indian Naval Base, INS Kardip in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Indian Army Eastern Command in Kolkata in July 2019.
The Company installed the World’s First Water from Air Kiosk, at Secunderabad Railway Station, India in December 2019. This kiosk was installed, in association with the South-Central Railway Zone and the Indian Railways Station Development Corporation (IRSDC), to make the station more water positive and reduce plastic usage. This was well received by Indian Railways officials, including the Indian Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal.
Maithri Aquatech installed a pilot water project capable of generating up to 1000 litres of water daily, at the campus of a large global corporate in Hyderabad in April 2020. They had been looking to implement sustainable projects which would aid them in achieving their sustainability goal.
In July 2020, the Indian Coastguard located in the water-scarce city of Chennai were looking for water solutions capable of meeting their drinking water requirements of their offices and residential quarters. Maithri Aquatech installed 28 MEGHDOOT solutions to meet their demands. Along with the offices, 22 houses in their residential quarters each receive over 25 litres of water per day.
Maithri Aquatech signed a USD 200 million deal with UK-based multi-national company, Contec Global, in February 2021, for facilitating the sale of MEGHDOOT across Africa and the Middle East. The partnership will bring together valuable skills in sustainable water solution development, deployment and social impact strategy to help various countries take a positive step towards Water and Food security, through innovative Air-to-Water solutions.
Maithri Aquatech set up the ‘World’s First Mobile Water from Air Kiosk and Water Knowledge Centre’ in the smart city of Visakhapatnam in March 2021. This initiative is supported by GVMC (Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation) and project SEWAH (Sustainable Enterprises for Water and Health) - an alliance between USAID and SWN (Safe Water Network). The kiosk will provide clean, mineral-enriched potable water harvested from the air by making use of MEGHDOOT as a source to generate water with no dependency on scarce groundwater or surface water resources. In addition to supplying clean water, the kiosk will also function as a Water Knowledge Resource Centre (WRKC) by creating awareness and imparting necessary information on the benefits of good water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) practices to members of the local underserved communities as well as nearby schools.
